Niles police blotter

The following incidents were listed in the reports of the Niles Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
OBSTRUCTION
Jessica Alphonse, 26, of 9221 Courtland Ave., Niles, was charged with obstruction and resisting a police officer on Jan. 20 after she reportedly called police to her home to report an argument with her boyfriend. Police said Alphonse was combative and refused to listen to officers’ orders. She has a March 8 court date.
THEFT
Thomas Birt, 51, of 4459 N. Major Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft on Jan. 23 after he allegedly took a cab ride to the 6700 block of Touhy Avenue, but had only 10 cents to pay toward his $65 fare. Police said Birt admitted to being intoxicated. He has a Feb. 19 court date.
RETAIL THEFT
Dragon Ivanov, 20, of 3831 W. Estes Ave., Lincolnwood, was charged with retail theft on Jan. 25. Police said Ivanov was identified as the man who stole a coffee maker from a store on the 7000 block of Touhy Avenue on Nov. 13. He has a Feb. 19 court date.
WARRANT
Leonard Reinebach, 20, of 8248 N. Newland Ave., Niles, was taken into custody Jan. 25 on a Cook County warrant for disorderly conduct. Police said Reinebach was located on the 6900 block of Fargo when officers responded to a report of a suspicious person. He has a Feb. 13 court date.
DUI
Ashor Esho, 50, of 6218 Lincoln Ave., Morton Grove, was charged with driving under the influence on the morning of Jan. 25. He was taken into custody at 2 a.m. on the 9600 block of Milwaukee Avenue after he was stopped by police for allegedly speeding on northbound Milwaukee. He has a Feb. 21 court date.
DISPUTE
On the morning of Jan. 27 police responded to a restaurant on the 8800 block of Milwaukee Avenue for a reported dispute between a 33-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman over the couple’s 21-year-old daughter drinking alcohol. Security told the man he was no longer welcome on the property and was ordered to leave, police said.
HARASSMENT
A 29-year-old Niles woman told police she received several pornographic video messages from an unknown man between Jan. 24 and Jan. 26. Police said the man also sent her text messages and called her phone, but did not say anything when she answered.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A purse was stolen from a vehicle on the afternoon of Jan. 26 while it was parked in a lot on the 9100 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The purse contained $200 in cash among other items.
THEFT
An Apple iPad valued at $730 was discovered stolen Jan. 23 from a store on the 6100 block of Touhy Avenue.
A taxi driver who stopped at the intersection of Kedzie Street and Osceola Avenue at 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 26 told police that a man jumped out of his cab and ran away without paying a $50 fare ~.
