Niles crime briefs: stolen debit card leads to $2,209 loss

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A 21-year-old Niles woman told police on Nov. 26 that she lost her wallet somewhere in the last 10 days. Police said someone used the woman’s debit card to withdraw $2,209.28 on four separate occasions. Police said two ATM withdrawals were made at unknown locations and some items were purchased at a retail store in Chicago.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A 34-year-old man from Buffalo Grove said that someone threw a small concrete rock at his vehicle while he was driving south on Caldwell Avenue near the 7900 block on Nov. 29. The rock reportedly shattered the victim’s passenger-side front window.
RETAIL THEFT
The loss prevention agent for a retail store at Golf Mill Shopping Center said someone removed a coffee maker on Nov. 13 from a display and left the store without paying for the item. The coffee maker has a value of $230.
LOST/STOLEN PROPERTY
A 67-year-old woman from Northbrook said that while she was shopping at a store on the 9000 block of Golf Road on Nov. 29 she put her purse that contained her wallet inside of a shopping cart. When she went to pay for her items, she found that her wallet was missing. Her wallet contained her driver’s license, a social security card, credit cards and $15.
