School Board race topic of District 64 meeting

PARK RIDGE — Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 will host a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 11 to discuss the duties of School Board members in the wake of the upcoming 2013 election.

The meeting, described as an “informal coffee,” will take place at 7 p.m. at the Educational Service Center, 164 S. Prospect Ave. in Park Ridge.

Four, four-year seats are up for election on the District 64 School Board on April 9, 2013. These seats are currently held by Pat Fioretto, Sharon Lawson, Eric Uhlig and Scott Zimmerman.

The period for circulating nominating petitions for signatures began Sept. 25 and the filing period will take place between Dec. 17 and Dec. 24.

According to the district, Board President John Heyde will share a short overview of the duties of serving on the board and the process for being elected. Superintendent Philip Bender and several past board members are expected to be present to answer questions. Candidate packets and background materials will also be available for pick-up, the district said.
