For the fourth year, U.S. Cellular is giving $1 million to schools to improve the education of students, a news release stated.

The campaign invites local communities to band together to vote for their school by visiting their local U.S. Cellular store to pick up a voting code and entering it online at uscellular.com. Voting is currently open and runs through Oct. 21.

U.S. Cellular has released a list of the current top 100 school rankings and four schools from Illinois are in the Top 18, including St. Damian Elementary School (Oak Forest), Columbia Central School (Steger) and Conley Elementary School (Algonquin). St John Brebeuf Grade School (Niles) was also in the Top 100. The full list can be seen at http://cacuscellular.com/.

The Top 18 schools that receive the most votes will win a share of $1 million to spend any way they see fit. The school that garners the most votes will receive $150,000, and the next 17 schools will each receive $50,000.

“There is plenty of time for communities to rally for their local schools and the standings can change drastically,” the release stated. Hope you’ll share this information to help drive awareness in your community!”
