The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the body of an apparent suicide victim found in Park Ridge as that of a 45-year-old Park Ridge man.
The Medical Examiner’s Office said the victim was identified as John Tsichlis.
His body was discovered by a man walking his dog Feb. 2 in a wooded area north of Riverside Drive/Algonquin Road and Oakton Street.
An autopsy conducted Feb. 4 determined Tsichlis had died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Park Ridge police did not formally identify the victim, but Lt. Duane Mellema said the body belonged to a man who had been reported missing to police by his family on Dec. 17.
Mellema would not comment as to whether a gun had been recovered from the scene.
