Approximately 225 people attended the Bare Bones Party on Jan. 24, a kick-off event for the 2013 Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens benefiting the Infant Welfare Society. The party was held at one of David Adler’s most famous homes — an Italianate lakefront mansion built in 1916. Members of the Lake Forest Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago and their friends were able to view this year’s home before the decorators begin transforming the rooms. To date, the Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens has raised more than $2.75 million. 15th biennial Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens: April 27-May 19: Tours 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays-Fridays; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Leading landscape and interior designers, including Bravo’s “Top Design” winner Matt Lorenz, Michael del Piero, Summer Thornton, Julia Edelman and Susan Fredman, have signed on to update the historic estate with their best design ideas. Celebrity designers, including HGTV’s Monica Pedersen, will speak at special events as part of the Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens’ programming. Tickets: $35 per person online/ $40 door.
