GLENVIEW — Glenview businessman Dylan Jordan is a seasoned musician, but his recent CD is part of the 85th Academy Awards gala on Sunday.
He wrote, produced and performed the music video, “I Love You Sha La La now featured on YouTube.
Nominated actors in some of the “Best” categories who did not receive an Oscar will get a gift bag with the CD and download card.
“It’s a consolation prize for being nominated. It’s to cheer them up,” said Jordan, who owns Dolphin Rose Music & Media Worldwide in Glenview and Libertyville.
Seth McFarland is hosting the awards, and will receive a gift bag.
Jordan said a business colleague in marketing saw the video.
“She liked it on the YouTube version and heard the CD. She thought they would be a perfect gift idea for the nominees,” he said.
Jordan’s two most satisfying music projects were playing keyboard for Brookes and Dunn in a Top 10 Hit Music Video/Commercial and he was lead vocal for two of Lyle Lovett’s songs.
He also wrote and composed “Good Old Fashion Love.”
Still, his CD at the Oscar’s rated big, he said.
“I’m beyond happy. I’ve been recording for quite some time and have won awards for singing, writing and producing on the commercial side,” he said.
“But having a break-through like this for my personal career is great.”
In 2011, Jordan’s daughter, 12-year-old Lauren Rose Jordan, performed with him the CD video that was shot at Wilmette’s Gillson Park beach by Lake Michigan.
They recorded the song in Nashville and Northbrook studios.
“The song is very far-reaching and is the vision for my child,” Dylan said.
Some of his other music credits included performing for 50,000 fans as the opening act for NASCAR on ESPN and live at the Arizona State Fair, where he received a standing ovation in the duet “The Time Of My Life.”
