PARK RIDGE — The Park Ridge Recreation and Park District Board of Commissioners is expected to vote Thursday night to place a referendum on the April 9 ballot concerning the purchase of the former Park Ridge Youth Campus property.

The meeting will take place Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Maine Park Leisure Center, 2701 W. Sibley Ave. in Park Ridge. Citizens will have an opportunity to voice comments on the proposed referendum question prior to the Park Board’s consideration.

The price of acquiring the Youth Campus site, demolish several buildings and construct new amenities is estimated at $13.2 million.

The language of the referendum that the Park Board will be asked to consider reads, “Shall the Park Ridge Recreation and Park District, Cook County, Illinois, acquire land known as the Youth Campus (11.35 acres), build and equip improvements and demolish some of the 12 buildings thereon and issue its bonds to the amount of $13.2 million for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?”
